First of all we would like to apologise for our delay in getting this issue up on Vitaforum.

The editorial team went on an extended Christmas break to Kerala in India. Although there were lots of good intentions to keep working on articles while in India when we set out, they rapidly disappeared once we got there.

While there, we had an opportunity to explore of the world of ayurvedic treatment. Ayurveda is not just a therapy, it is a whole medical system just like Chinese medicine. Although we only managed to skim the surface of this old medical system, what we learnt was very interesting.

We had the chance to meet 2 ayurvedic practitioners from different environments. One was an ayurvedic doctor providing treatment along with a team of colleagues at the Taj hotel in Calicut. He was a clinician, the equivalent to a consultant. The other practitioner had learned his skills from his father, and was a grand master of Kerala martial arts. This practitioner was like the local herbalist as well as a sports physician.
Both these different approaches were covered by the ayurvedic system.

We will try to provide some more information on Ayurveda in the next issue.
